In One Piece, the "Emperors" or "Four Emperors" are the most powerful and notorious pirate captains in the world, residing in the New World (the second half of the Grand Line). The current Emperors are Red-Haired Shanks, Blackbeard, Straw Hat Luffy, and Buggy the Star Clown. The previous generation of Emperors included Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaidou.
 
The Emperors exert significant influence over other pirate crews and self-governing islands in the New World. They are not allies nor strictly enemies, preferring to remain autonomous. Compared to other pirates faced by the Straw Hat Pirates earlier in the series, the Emperors pose a much larger threat, especially in the Whole Cake Island and Wano Country sagas.
